pinhole workshop

pinhole (camera obscura) workshop

19 october 2018, Belgrade, Serbia

Occupying urban spaces with a new imaginary created by a human-size pinhole camera.

As the image emerges from the darkness, its inversion symbolises a possible change of order and opening of a new interpretation of reality. It offers temporary liberation from existing laws of perception.

Apart from the spectacular, painting-like character of the final image, there is a process of adjusting to new conditions . The process is surprising for observers. The image is always there – the ability of our perception only changes. When initially confronted with the dark, obscure condition, our sensors are deprived – we are in a state of uncertainty. We can slowly adopt. This process affects both physical and emotional state. We are reacting to an experience of space emerging from the dark in their own particular way as they becoming accustomed to a space, presence of other participant and one ’s own perception.
