Oppositional looks is a collaborative art initiative aiming to facilitation film and photography workshop together led by and together with people who experienced flight. The project takes place in Belgrade, Serbia. We are a collective of activists, amateur and professional photographers and filmmakers working on a collaborative project dealing with the representation of flight and other migratory experiences.
I’d like to invite participants to discover and experience the phenomenon of camera obscura, which is the beginning of photography. Camera obscura literally means “dark room” and is an optical construction that allows capturing and projecting images.
We will transform the meeting space into a simple but large camera obscura, which we will prepare together during the workshop. In order to achieve this goal, the windows will be darkened with black foil. A small hole (lens) will be installed in the foil by which the image of the street outside will be captured and projected on the walls inside. The room will become a huge camera and we will enjoy the effect from inside
